am using the internet with my acer aspire laptop via dsl, suddenly i heard a loud thunder and then my pc turned off automatically. im sure that power surge was the cause of the problem. when i press the power button, the LED lights up but no display then it will shutdown in 3 seconds

i already tried powering up with its battery and then without it using only the ac adaptor same, power LED lights up then off in 3 seconds

I hope not the motherboard. How about pulling the battery out and back in. Worth a shot.

it sounds like you may have fried the power supply. did you try it with it plugged in?
and did yoou also try it with just the battery?
