In Pirates of the Carribean Dead Mans Chest how is that dice game between Will, Jones, and Bootstrap played?

I think it's played like this....

1) Any member of the crew can be challenged.
2) They are each given a cup and 5 die. (they wager, how many years service they offer Davy Jones).
3) They cast the die and keep them covered underneath the cup from each other.
4) They then takes turns in placing bets off how many die have a certain number on.
5) After about 3-4 rounds the cups are taken off the die and they see who is correct.
6) The person/people who lose the bet are the ones to take the wager they placed at the start of the game.

Hope that helps!! ;)

You bid on the total of any one number. Somebody ups the bid or calls you a liar to make everyone lift their cups to prove that you are or vindicate you. In Dead Man's Chest, filmmakers decided it would be more dramatic for Davy Jones to call Bootstrap a liar BEFORE they lifted the cup.

Basically, it’s a complete guessing game.

Everyone has a cup of five die and they shake and throw them down. They all then place a wager. Then, by only looking at their own die, they take turns making a guess (a “bid”) as to how many of a certain die are on the table (ex: three 2s, four 5s, six 1s, so on and so forth). Next, they go around upping the bids (three 2s now is raised to four 2s, or six 1s changed to six 4s).

If player “A” thinks that player “B” has said a possible bid that is too high, “A” calls “B” out and all the players lift their cups. If the number on the table is equal or greater than the challenged bid, then the person who guessed the bid losses (if the player is called out on saying five 2s and there are five or more 2s, then he losses, but if he is lower, than the challenger losses).

I figured it out by the 4th time I watched the movie. You bet on what numbers not only what your dice say, but everybody else's too. When Will Turner betted four fives, he was right, and Davy Jones betted again for seven fives, because he knew there wouldn't be seven fives. It's kinda confusing, but watch that scene over and over, and eventually you get it. They probably have instructions on the Web on how to play it.
