For example - someone recently posted a question asking if blind people dream - most of the answers were posted by people who trying to sound scientific in their answers. I did not see any posts by actual blind people, so I considered all of the responses as pure speculation. There was one guy that responded that he believed dreams were of a spiritual nature so it made perfect sense to him that blind people could dream because they come from God. I'm not going to say whether or not I adhere to that belief or not - but what I noticed is that people then started responding to his response by insulting his ability to put together reasonable thoughts - why? The people responding to him are obviously not going to make him "See the light" and convert away from his spiritual beliefs - what's the point in calling him names? So what if he is wrong - when he dies...he's dead. But if he's right...when these other people die, they spend an eternity in Hell.

Straight to the main question. Because they can't use logic to prove the non-existence of a god (or other) just as believers can't prove its existence. At the same time communication among the two groups on issues like "the point of worshipping" is rarely possible. This leads non-believers to frustration and invokes in them the usual behaviour of a person that feels he is trying to explain smth to an idiot.

The end of your ... question .... is known as Pascals Wager. It's been proven faulty time and time again, for numerous reasons.

It relies on the idea that a believer upon dying will have lost nothing if he's wrong, where a non believer will have lost everything if he's wrong.

The problem comes into play with a few difference scenarios.

1. How do you know which is the right god to worship? Throughout history there have been countless gods.

2. If there is a god, and you happen to pick the right one, how do you know what he expects of you? How can you be sure he even wants your worship?

3. The idea that a believer will have lost nothing is faulty in itself. They will have lost countless time spent attending services, tithes donated to the church that could have been better spent on worthwhile charities instead of a tax exempt corporation like the church. He will have also lost a lifetime of reason and logic, discarding thought in favor of blind obedience.

And finally, any god worth worshipping would judge based on the merits of the person, not the amount of time spent on your knees praying when your time could be put to better use.

Because the incredible lack of logic or common sense exhibited by spiritual people is getting really annoying!!!

Mostly I would say they do it because although they don't know it, to deny that there is "something" more is to side with the Great Deceiver Satan, who greatest deception is to fool people into believing he does not exist. By believing that, these ones are actually siding with him. The name Satan means slanderer, and so it stands to reason his followers would do just that, and slander others.

"Never shall mortal eye recognize the everlasting Beauty, nor the lifeless heart delight in aught but in the withered bloom. For like seeketh like, and taketh pleasure in the company of its kind. "

People will always put Christians down. When Jesus walked the earth he was persecuted, beaten and crucified, His disciples were stoned and persecuted also. Jesus is my king and master and I am only a servant. A servant should not expect to be treated better than his master. Jesus lives in me and all who except him and the world hated him so they will hate Christians too. If the world hates me it is good because I know then God is in me and God is not of this world.
