I am 40 weeks and 3 days pregnant and am desparate to go into labour. I have high blood pressure, swollen ankles, face and hands, and cant walk because Ive got something begininng with sim....... that I cant pronounce. It is where your pelvic bone softens and moves about, some women get it worse than others apparently. So as you can imagine I am pretty fed up and want the end result now! Ive heard about going for walks, hot currys and sex. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

If your health isn't 100% then you shouldn't try anything natural I am 39+4 days so i kinda know how you feel when it comes to feeling fed up.
I have tried a few things like nipple stimulation and drinking 4 tablespoons of brown sugar in a half a glass of warm water but they have been both unsuccessful a midwife also told me about a teaspoon of Castor oil in freshly squeezed orange juice but it should only be done after the 40 week mark so I am not there yet. And don't worry some women will tell you that doing the Castor oil can hurt your baby cause it causes them to poop that is not true what causes you baby to poop if it was to happen is the strain of being pushed out a paediatrician told me that.
But I wouldn't try any natural methods not until you talk to your midwives or your DR. I am having my membranes swept at my next appointment they do it at 40 wks have you asked your doc or midwife to do that yet??

Anyway Good luck.

I don't understand why your Dr. just won't induce you. I had gone to the Dr. when I was 2 days away from my due date and he checked my blood pressure and it was a bit high but, I told him that I was having problems w/the swelling and that when you would push on my calves near the bone and it would indent and stay indented for a few minutes. I told him that I was seeing sparkles in the air like lightening bugs and he told me that we should have the baby either today or tomorrow . He checked me and I was dilated to around 4 so he told me to go to the hospital and get induced now. Maybe if you call him and tell him what is going on and tell him that your blood pressure is high and your seeing sparks he will tell you to go to labor and delivery. I feel for you and I hope that you have your baby like today and all is well. Good luck.

Hello and congratulations!

Well the only thing I can think of is something u already said and that's sex.

When u go to the hospital to induce ur labor they give u a synthetic hormone drug called patocin. However our female bodies produces this hormone naturally during intercourse.

However with u being very uncomfortable and with pregnancy related health problems, now that u have passed 40 weeks u should be induced soon, that's my guess.

And again congratulations, I'm only 15 weeks and can't wait to be 40 weeks myself and that close to holding my little one in my arms :-)

The best natural way that seems to work for most mothers is to have sex!

After intercourse the woman should try to keep the semen around her cervix for as long as is comfortable. Semen contains the wonderful natural prostaglandins that help ripen the cervix. Orgasm also releases hormones to assist uterine activity.

If a woman is not able to have intercourse, nipple stimulation is also useful. This helps release oxytocin, etc.

Women used to take bid teaspoons full of castor oil to try to get things moving.

We took my wife on a nature hike through a hilly state park. I see you can't do that, and I wouldn't bother anyway--she had to be induced about a week later.

I advise against the castor oil. Have someone rub your ankles and lower back there are pressure points that can trigger labor. You can look into a massage therapist and see where these points are.

Raspberry tea, you can buy it from the health food shops, Holland and Barrett. Try dancing, put on a cd and dance away.
Good luck xx

My husband drove really fast over railroad tracks when I was near the end of my first pregnancy (very bumpy!). My daughter was born a week early :)

My son was born at 41 weeks and 4 days. I tried most of these but none worked. Maybe you will have better luck!

Your favourite meal, nice relaxing bath, a serious pampering session and a night of passionate sex. Will it help induce labour......of course not......but you won't care.
