The stats will show that the current Aussie side is better in terms of number of consecutive wins, but even as a die hard Aussie fan they might jsut fall behind the old Windies team.
The old Windies team had a more intimidating aura than the current Aussie side, primarily from teh pace battery of Garner, Holding, Marshall and Walsh. They also did not lose a test series for something around the order of 10-15 years, which is a record I dont think will be beaten for a while to come yet!

Simply put..No..I grew up to cricket in the 80's and the WINDIES were my first cricket heroes (not many Aussies). They were magnificent! This present Aussie side would perform well against Viv's team and possibly win a series, but against Clive's ? Nup! Though Steve Waugh's side I think would have given Clive's team a real tough time!!

If i had to bet i would take the Aussies cos times move on and sports people improve.The windies tho in their day played a much better cavalier brand of cricket. Aussies also too bigheaded.But i think theyd win cos they r such games men and go all out for victory.Have brilliant bowlers and batsmen. Interesting to see how they go without Langer,Mcgrath and the ultimate legend ever Warnie.

Yes, I think it is, because this Aussie team has more variety in
it's bowling attack. the old West Indies only relied on fast
bowlers. Albeit with great effect.
If my memory serves me right, It was the Aussies who were
the first to beat them in the eighties.

Yes ausies are far more better than the old west indian team.. They are now waiting for their hat-trick world cup win..They are considered as the favourites too...
