Ok, I am gay. Here is my agenda:

Daily Agenda:
I get up in the morning have breakfast
Work
Have lunch
Work
Have dinner
Relax and watch some TV
Go to bed

Yearly, Monthly, and/or weekly Agenda:
Pay Bills
Buy Groceries
Pay Taxes
Attend Church(occasionally)

Other Agenda's:
Vote
Travel
Shop
Enjoy life
Communicate with family
Have a wonderful other half of 6 years and enjoy that meaningful relationship

Boy, I sound dangerous, don't I?Since I am gay and that is my agenda then that means I have a "gay agenda", right?

So, out of curiosity, why do many people who have such warrantless dislike for who I am because I am gay constantly suggest I have some evil agenda?

P.S.
Just to point out that while I appreciate any answer, I am not singling any one group or one type of person out in my question and rather am addressing what the phrase "gay agenda" is suppose to mean to people who use it and how that applies to me based on what my actual agenda(above) is.

Kedar,
Is the sentence "what is the gay agenda" not in English?I noticed you answered "huh?" and so I suppose you must have been confused with the question.I added so much detail because I wanted to make sure that any answer I got knew my agenda before telling me what my agenda was based on my sexuality. Was that not clear? No offence, but I thought that my first sentence should have been enough to give an answer other then "huh?"

People used to say that Jewish people sacrificed babies to the devil. People also used to believe that women were more likely to become friends with Satan and turn into witches. People thought of black people as being livestock that could be bought and sold.

It's the same script with a different cast if you ask me. In order to feel like their religion is the correct one (and that their interpretation of it is the right one at that-- since I know that not all Christians, Muslims, etc. think homosexuality is wrong), people feel a need to demonize gay people. If you make it seem as though gays are in league with the devil it makes them feel better about discriminating against us on every front.

Also, I think that because gay people are trying harder to get basic human rights in this country a lot of folks take that as us trying to pass a "gay agenda." When you add in the fact that Hollywood is showing more gay people on TV and in movies it scares the heck out of those people that have mindlessly convinced themselves that we are buddies with Satan. I guess it never came to their minds that we make up 10 percent of the population and therefore deserve some visibility on TV.

I'm not sure when these religious wackos are going to realize that we're born this way and that nobody in their right minds would choose to be discriminated against! Anybody that says he/she chose to be straight must be a closet case because being straight or gay just comes naturally. Trying to pretend you're one way or the other is just a lie, and Jesus preaches more against liars than he ever did about homosexuality.

Sorry for the long rant. Your question must have struck a chord in me this morning. :-)

Because People Are Shallow, Immature And Pathetic. It Annoys Me When People Use Insults As "Your Gay!" Wow.. What An Insult. The Girl Clearly Isn't That Much Of A Music Fan If She Cannot See Past Sexual Orientation Of Rob Halford And It Bothers Her So Much That She Cannot Enjoy The Music. No, It Doesn't Mean They Suck.

The so-called 'gay agenda' is what politicians and religious people who are totally opposed to all things gay use to more or less make the general population believe that gay people are trying to take over the world. Part of their reasoning is that by demanding equal rights, gay people want to turn everyone gay and make 'traditional' families' obsolete. But reality is there is no actual 'agenda' aside from merely wanting the same pension, health care, education and other things that straight people want. So, every time you hear the phrase used, you know it is just another homophobic person tryign to put us in the back of the bus and make us use separate washrooms. They have no basis other than their own bias for it.

You make a very valid point.

For a number of reasons, the religious right has decided that homosexuality is chief among sins, and the the gay community is a hotbed of plots and "agendas" opposed to -- almost everything. Christians complain that they are being accused of "intolerance", and their attacks on gays has done much to fuel those accusations. Such accusations have a long history. The most recent episode began with an apparently spontaneous media attack on gays by a combination of conservative politicians and Christian musicians and entertainers, denouncing gays as sinful and perverted.

Basically, the "Gay Agenda" is a tool used by mainstream heteronormative society to lump every single person who doesn't agree to those heteronormative "rules" in the one basket. It is a very clever plot especially when pointing the figure in terms of the "US" against "THEM" agenda. (Where the mainstream dominant culture drops everyone who doesnt agree with the rules of that culture into one "mass" of people, solely based on their sexual orientation. There cannot be a gay agenda, because the word gay, means so many different things, to so many different people. The word "gay" is utilized to describe anyone who isnt heterosexual.)

" The homosexual agenda (or the gay agenda) is a term used by social conservatives to describe the goal of increasing LGBT acceptance through public policies, media exposure, and cultural change. Most often, the term is employed by social conservatives in reference to what they see as the attempt to redefine marriage and family, and shift focus away from what they consider traditional morality."

" A political term commonly used to describe what certain segments of American society believe to be an attempt by all gay rights advocates to reshape American society in such a way that straits would begin to suffer some form of descrimination. There is no proof for this, as the overwhelming majority of them simply want to be left alone and be allowed to live their lives as they wish, as is the right of any other group of American citizens."

The gay agenda...
Was set up by the Religious Right and has been made into a fighting match between them and gay rights groups.
I appreciate your "daily agenda" very much, but I fear that this phrase refers to a lot more than that.
I have no desire to turn straight people gay but for some reason Jerry and Pat think that we want to corrupt and destroy this nation based on God and good Christian morals.
They are attacking us in our homes and destroying our families by telling people like my parents to kick me out if I am gay. They are the ones who are using our pain and suffering for their financial benefit. They use us as fund raising tools in their newsletters and on their shows.
The only way you can fight them is to not hesitate because before you know it the lies will be coming through your door and hurting your family.

Gay agenda is propaganda of religious right to use as weapon of hate for gays. Who are the ones who speak of gay agenda are Pat Robertson, James Dodson, Jerry Falwell, Rush Limbaugh and others of far right.

Hi Buckfush... I, too, am gay. I think the phrase "having a gay agenda", refers to anyone, straight or gay, that happens to be sympathetic to equal right for gay people. The Constitution says something along the lines that "all men are created equal"... not just the ones that happen to like members of the opposite sex. So anyone that should happen to point out that being equal, includes the right to pick and choose our loved ones, would have a "gay agenda". Thanks for the good question....

I think maybe it is the enjoying life people find dangerous. For some reason or another their are a minority of people who try to stir up trouble and cause problems for others. While it is a minority at onset through constant screaming to get it voice heard it becomes a substantial minority or even a slight majority, not once thinking its energy can be better spent doing something entirely different. Just my theory on the matter. My credo though is to live and let live.
