Of course we did. The moon really isn't that far away, and back then the government was giving NASA a blank check.
What surprises me is we didn't leave any astronauts stranded on the moon. A positive outcome due to open-ended budgeting and dedicated engineers.
BTW the flag didn't "wave" on the moon. It was designed with a horizontal rod to keep it open, and the astronaut that planted it left it crinkled up and "wavy" looking because he said it looked better in his opinion.
The shuttle was never designed for moon travel, its parameters are based only on LEO missions, otherwise its main fuel tank would be a lot bigger, and the shuttle itself would have to carry fuel, which it doesn't except for its deorbit rockets and positioning thrusters.

Sometimes I wonder about this, because they're having so much trouble with the shuttle. Going to the moon makes the shuttle missions look like a walk in the park. BTW There was also a successful mission to the sun, the spacecraft didn't burn because they went at night.

This is one of my favourite conspiracy theories. I love it. Those against (believe no one landed on the moon) have some great "proof" on their side. Those for (believe man did land on the moon in 1969) think their proof is the "images and televising of the event)... wonderful, who knows. There is also the theory, that they landed, but couldn't show what was really there, and as they already had pre filmed a possible landing senario, they just showed that---- film taken in the desert installation of some guys in suits and the 'waving' flag, shadows and all. This is what was shown. What they found?-- some say some kind of buildings... The Russians also have a conspiracy theory like that, when they landed they found ancient buildings??.....................

The "flag waving" thing was never explained to me, but my guess would be this: gravity is lower on the moon, right? I think it is.. Would the flag just be falling to the ground like it does on earth? It makes sense for it to just float/hover above the ground, giving it the appearance of 'waving'. Just my two cents.

You gotta be kidding me!
Have they also been snowing us about the earth not being flat?
It's hard to believe that kind of ignorance is still alive and well.
