The things that happen in a cruel war like this, many people were killed. But no one of the Allies should be blamed for this, Germany could have ended the war at any time by surrender. The Nazis made children and old people fight in the last days of the war (the "Volkssturm") because they refused to surrender, and many of the young people were very fanatic because of all the propaganda they were raised with and were willing to die so senselessly. So it was a very cruel war, but you can't blame the Russians as it was all in a fight and we have to be thankful to everyone who helped to defeat the Nazis.
However after the war those Germans who lived in the Soviet zone of occupation had really bad luck when compared to those who lived under the occupation of the Western Allies. Many German women were raped by Soviet soldiers. But they never acted as the Nazis had acted in Russia.
