The religious nut jobs TRIED to push this law through congress on its own merit (much like the 18th ammendment which tried to outlaw alcohol). The bill failed on its own merits - as it should have.

BUT - the thumpers tacked it onto a "port security bill" so that it would squeak through under the guise of "homeland security".

Who would question "homeland security" after all?

SO - who amongst us, is SICK and TIRED of the Republican party telling us that they are all about smaller government when they have systematically taken away the very rights that our forefathers fought so hard for?

And folks - it's not about online poker. Tomorrow it could be about your right to post on Yahoo!

Well we agree on something Mild! I was part of the poker players alliance group that tried to reason with them about poker. As it is a game of skill unlike only luck like slot machines etc. And shouldn't have been lumped in with on line gambling. It's interesting that they left the lottery alone isn't it? Yes Bush signed it but politicains from both sides voted for it. It's just another sign that big government thinks they need to be our "daddy" When playing poker for real money I prefer a live game over the internet but that's not the point either. Hey you should try poker fun club if you still like playing poker on line for play money. It has great graphics and some cool people.

You poor thing. You ability to throw your cash away has been limited by 1/1000 of one percent.

Its not about Religious objections to gambling, and its not an evil Republican conspiracy.

Its about the government's right to tax gaming enterprises, to regulate the games and to try to prevent organized crime from running them.

I can guarantee you that there were some of your precious Democrats that sold you out on this deal. Where is the anger for them?

lots of small bills are very routinely bundled up and attached to larger bill that have little to do with each other in order to get the legislauture's work done on time. Democtrats and Republicans agree on the process, and it has nothing to do with "sneaking" objectionable laws into the books.

We have legal casino gaming in just about every town in Oklahoma that has two residents or more. Come waste your money here. We'll use it to build good old fashioned, American jobs.
