Last guy told you a lot of crap. ASUS is a little better, altough I think they own Gigabyte now anyway. That board will support a Core 2 Duo, so you are fine there. As for RAM, brand does matter, but as long as you get Kingston, Corsair, Cruical, OCZ, or Patriot if you are on a budget, you should be fine. Intel by the way makes very good processors, and the Core 2 Duos are the fastest out right now. Your video card is not going to be a good gamer, if that is what you are looking for. Any further questions please feel free to email me.

Okay then. Let me rephrase. Intel, and Microsoft are so close together, they're practically wearing the same pants. Microsoft continually increases the system requirements for Windows, so that people have to buy bigger and faster computers that they DON'T need just for web browsing, e-mail, and word processing. Intel puts Windows with most computers that it's processors are in, so Microsoft can make more money. Intel and AMD processors aren't that far apart (AMD is better, though.) The real reason why you should by an AMD processor is because by buying Intel, you're only supporting a cycle of profit where we get screwed. Look at the price of Windows XP, or the latest Intel processor. ( :-o ) And have you noticed Microsoft's business practices? Paying people to only make their sites support Internet Exploiter? Vaporware? While virtually no companies are clean these days, AMD looks a hell of a lot better, because Intel and Microsoft are absolutely filthy. I'd take a slower AMD processor over a faster Intel one for the same price any day.

No. Just no.
ASUS is a much better motherboard than Gigabyte.
AMD is a much better processor than Intel.
ASUS and AMD together is like adding oatmeal and raisins AND chocolate chips to a cookie at the same time. Intel is like country music. It just shouldn't exist.

Western Digital makes excellent Hard Drives.
Kingston is a good brand of RAM, but I don't really think there's that much difference in RAM.
