When your in labor you are to remove everything . They give you a gown . You lay there till you are opened about 10 centimeters , in the mean time the contractions , the screaming , the pain , makes you forget about what your bottom looks like . All you want is it to be OVER !!!!!!!!

Of course you take of your undies so the baby can come out lol. And the hospital can give you a gown to wear during the labour but you can wear whatever you like. Or you can wear nothing at all, it depends how comfortable your feeling during the birth. I'm planning on wearing a old nightie because I no that hospital gowns are not comfy at all! but I will most likely end up naked anyway!.

As soon as you get there, you will have to take everything off and they will give you a gown and check to see how far diliated you are. Giving birth you will have on the gown and will be checked often to make sure labor progresses. I thought I would have been uncomfortable having people in the room and seeing my privates, but when the contractions hit you dont care who is there and looking. While I was giving birth, my husband, his uncle and my step-daughter was in the room in addition to the doctor and nurses. I really didnt care who was there as long as the baby was out. Trust me you loose all dignity.

It's true, that while you're in active labor, you won't really care who's looking where. But to answer your question, yes you're given a gown. When you're admitted you'll be ask to remove everything, and put the gown on. There will be pad placed on the bed, under your bottom, for when your water breaks. These are usually changed out by the labor nurses, who are very very nice women. There will be sheets, and blankets on the bed as well. You'll be allowed to be completely covered up the entire time, minus being checked and the actual delivery. When it's time, it's time. And, as I and others have mentioned, at that point, you won't care.

Take off ALL your clothes. All you get to wear is the hospital gown. But when you are in labor, you really won't care :)

when I was in labor I wore the hopsital gown with the opening in the front because when you are pushing you will be hot.and It makes it easier for them to move the monitors on the belly when the baby moves. I also advise wearing socks because after you have the baby you will get really cold

It's so true. When you have a baby, you really lose your sence of modesty. I will be losing mine (for the third time) over the summer. LOL But don't worry, the nurses and doctors have seen it all.
