Scolding or trying to direct? Is it that persons responsibility to do it? Is it done in private? Is it exclusively work related? Are the things you are being told valid and helpful?
If you don't like the way these things are presented, try discussing the issue with that person, you could say something like "I know you are trying to help or teach, I could use a little positive encouragement here".

Most people are not scolded unless they deserve it. Are you following ALL of your employer's rules? If you are chatting with co-workers when you are supposed to be working, dont you think that you should be scolded? Remember, when you work for someone else, you must follow their rules whether you like them or not (as long as the rules are legal). If you dont like their rules, you should feel free to leave that job for another. You do not have a right of free expression at work. You do your job, you get paid and you go home. Keep your personal business at home.
The only exception is if your boss is scolding you in front of other employees. In this case, you should pull them aside and tell them that if they have issues with you, that you would appreciate if they would do it privately.
But right now I would focus on why you are getting scolded. My guess is that there is a reason for it, but you may not be willing to own up to it.

It kind of depends. Me being in your shoes: If he was in a bad mood and he is just letting off steam, I'd just brush it off, try to understand how he works and try to get out of his way the next time one of his moods stir up again.
If he is just there trying to make my life miserable or because he just can't stand the way I do things (being different or too slow or whatever) then I'd try to improve myself up to the point where I think I can't be improved anymore. If it still continues, I'd quit.
There is no point in standing up to him since he is the leader and the first thing that pops into a person's mind is that you are being scolded because you didn't do something right.
Hey, everyone's just trying to make a living, right? Let's each compromise and take a step back before anything escalates into a fight and things will be okay in the long run.
Best of luck.

i would think to myself "hey! why the hell am i working for him and getting scolded by him aswell" and QUIT and when he wants reasons i will say its becuase of you. then he might actually make up his mind and try to be more sensible the next time he scolds someone or you have to go look for another job. ( he might fire you)

If you have an open door policy make an incident report if it happened while there are other people within the area. If found guilty your boss will deserve a warning after the investigation. You can do this discreetly if you need to protect yourself.
