Everything has a gravitational force. This force is directly proportinate to the mass of the object. Thus, earth has such a great gravatational force to everything else on it due to it's mass.
One intresting point about this is that if you throw something down, the object moves towards earth(we all know that),AND,earth moves towards the object as well. However, since earth is so massive,we don't feel it.

I generally agree with the answers above regarding mass and gravitational force. I have one quibble though...massive objects don't have gravitational force...there is a gravitational force between objects. It's a subtle distinction.

if it wouldn't be there we all would be floating as in air.gravitational force is exerted by all the planets and bodies but we don't know much about them.the magnitude of the force exerted by the earth is very large.
god wanted humans on earth so he had to give this force for us to survive simple.
if u don't want to experience this force u might try living in the space.
good luck.....

They 'pull-down' almost everything!
Tops, Bras, Jeans, shoes, Jeans again....
then finallly, G-strings...
Then STRONGHOLES.... Yea! things like that..

Because it has mass. all things with mass have a gravitational pull. The more mass, the more pull.
