I am not sure what they really are, but they are small brown/black flies. I have kept all trash outside in the dumpster, and have made sure the house is clean. What else can I do? HELP!!

I leave little saucers out with a bit of beer in them. Change the saucers every other day. You'll be amazed at how many of those pesky flies will be floating in the beer.

Somebody told me that if you boil a bag of catnip in your home (all windows closed) for a while, it will also kill those flies. And the great thing is after you strain it, you can spray your plants down with it and it will keep your plants from getting bug infestations. It's worth a try. Catnip is cheap and all natural.

Try a plug-in overnight flea killer, these work on most any flying creatures
as well as the fleas they were designed to eradicate. They are made by
Enforcer there is no mess or smell just the added bonus of a nitelite so
you can see at night put these in areas where you see the flies. The cost
is about $8 but well worth it, we've trapped mosquitoes, fleas and a few
unidentified flying insects as well as spiders and gnats.

Do you have houseplants??? They can foster little bugs. If you do buy an indoor pesticide and use it.

If you don't have plants and there is no food or garbage lying around try a house 'fogger'. These fog your house with pesticide and kill any bugs. The only thing is that you'll have to leave for 6 hours or more and then wipe everything off when you can go back inside.

I used this remedy for the first time this year and it works and is inexpensive. Put 2oz of cider vinegar in a small juice glass, add two to three drops of liquid dishwashing soap and leave it set for a few days, I put several of these glasses out.....after a few days check the bottom of the glasses out, you won't believe how many are in the bottom. Also make sure that you have no bags of potatoes or onions setting around that have a rotten potato or onion in them...

I suggest getting some spiders and popping them around your windows. Not ideal I admit, but will certainly get rid of the little flies.

I always have a bowl of fruit and another of fresh tomatoes on the counter, once every blue moon one will get to ripe and we will get fruit gnats.

Just make sure that there is no food anywhere for them.

It could be this crazy warm weather we are having. They might be breeding at the wrong time of the year.

If you have doors or windows open, spray the screens.
