Actually, a "same" product cost for two totally different price for a consumer, most of them aren't going to think twice while they are going to buy the pirated or counterfeit product. This is the human's nature. if they have contact with the issues of economic growth for the country, for sure they would think twice before doing it.

Because the common folk can afford the pirated and counterfeit products and when you are common you do give a rat's backside about the GNP.

In certain low-GDP countries, and even families with low income they would be more likely to buy pirated products. Why would they pay more money for something that could be bought for less..what I mean, for instance. A new dvd is like 15-20 bucks..
you can do many things with that money..cant you?

obviously you know economic reasons are number one....and i think the other is to get them on dvd or vhs way before they get to market.
