What are the resons why the people buy pirated products, setting aside economic reasons?

I need an in-depth opinion regarding this issue..

well , I had a break in and all my CDs were taken . Since I have already paid the "royalty " once I don't believe I should have to pay it again . since no mechanism exists to take care of me my only option is circumvent the legal means .
Other reasons for pirated products may be in case of music/multimedia . non availability of appropriate format for various devices .
For software non performing product / or in sufficient Support to justify Price . Too restrictive License ( Product may have been originally bought legally but due to restrictions may end up being illegal ) . another example is I had a OEM version of Office and after upgrading Windows the OEM version would not work . but neither the Manufacturer would support it ( because it worked OK under the original version of Windows ) nor Microsoft ( because they only sold me Windows ) So I don't feel obligated to purchase either product legally now .
another reason could be no Legal Product available due to regional restrictions / Market Monopolization .

How's that for a few reasons ?

OH BTW just my 2 more cents . I don't Subscribe to the opinion that IF everyone buys the products legally the Sellers will declare that they are making more then enough money and lower prices for everyone .

The mere fact you are looking for an in-depth opinion about this is because you yourself cannot find any answer for this. There is no answer other than economic reasons. We are forced to take the bitter pill of buying low quality pirated products simply because we cant afford it at times. Better than having nothing... pirated products will suffice.

The main reason of course would be economic. Another reason would be that the person buys pirated products because that product may not be available in their country. Finally, the last reason I can think of would relate to my second answer. Pirated products are bought when it is not available in a certain country and the person buying it wants to impress others that he/she were able to get what no one else could.

besides finances of course, there is a feeling of "getting away with something".
Example: shoplifters who don't need to do it for money. There are a lot of people who do this for various reasons. I've known of people who it was a compulsion, then there were some who did it just to see if they could.
Or to find out exactly what the hype is.
The media made such a big deal out of it, that people who have never thought of doing such a thing, said hmm.... I will have to try that.

Because it is usually extremely cheaper or they have it first. People usually forget their moral obligations when they get get something for less, I know you want to know another reason pirated products are usually of things that haven't been released yet or imported and not yet for sale here.. I f someone wants something bad enough they have no patience to wait for when it is legally released.

The economic reason is the main reason, costs of music and other software is so high that people refuse to pay the cost.
I do not condone these actions and will use Shareware when i need software.

I think they don't consider it to be "really" theft since it's a crime against a corporation or against people who have money.
