Well yes. Many children who are sexually abused think that it's alright, they don't know any better, as they get older they may abuse someone, and so on so forth. It is also very hard for the child emotionally. A lot of times the abuser will threaten the child's family or the child itself. Many children have committed suicide because of sexual abuse, many adults have committed suicide because they were sexually abused when they were children. If you think about it, our bodies are really the only things that belong to us, once that area is invaded it is very strange, you have been violated. Pedophilia is a major problem and it needs to be stopped. But it is also a disease, some people can't help it, a lot of murderer's suffer from mental diseases, a lot of rapists suffer from the same disease.

There was some study that said *sometimes* it wasn't. However, that's not the way to bet. There's an interesting chapter on this in the book, "What Cops Know." A journalist interviewed 125 tough Chicago cops, all 15-20+ years on the force. The chapter on child molesters says that they say things like, "It was love" and the children say things like they tried wearing four pairs of pajamas so daddy wouldn't touch them. Also, child molesters will say that the child was flirting with them, and it turns out the child was a two-year old in diapers. So, if someone said they were molested but it wasn't a big deal, I might believe them because that's the experience of some kids, but if a child molester said it wasn't harmful, I'd believe they were lying.
Did you see that guy who fantasized that he killed JonBenet Ramsey? Mark Karr? He described the scene as romantic and very sexual, and he's describing a child who was cruelly killed by slow strangulation. That's one example of why I wouldn't believe a child molester.

Why in the world would it be harmful? Inappropriate touching, groping, secrets, and all wouldn't have an effect on a child's mind. DUH!! Of course it is!
