thinking of buying a macdonalds franchise in the states...
how much would it cost? and whats the prospects...
using it to also get my visa as an investor from the uk

It might be a good idea to learn how to spell the name correctly first. It's McDonald's not macdonalds.

McDonald's makes a very good profit. Obesity by drive thru is America's favorite past-time.

So to open a new franchise is $45000 plus equipment costs. They say equipment, facility, and pre-opening costs from $600k to $1.2mil. Apparently, you need to pay 40% of the facility cost up front (YIKES). Lastly, McDonalds charges a service fee (4% of gross) every month.

I heard on the news that McDonalds is trying to remodel all of their stores. They want them to be more trendy, with an atmosphere more like Panera Bread. I believe they are forcing these upgrades on their franchisees. If so, that sounds like a rip off for the franchisees.
