"My conclusion was that it would be a mistake to send more troops to Baghdad. I think the sectarian violence there requires a political, not a military, solution," said Sen. Susan Collins (news, bio, voting record), R-Maine., who had not had a chance yet to meet with the president.

Rep. Heather Wilson (news, bio, voting record), R-N.M., an Air Force veteran and member of the House Intelligence Committee, said she would not support increasing troop levels "to do for the Iraqis what the Iraqis will not do for themselves."

Bush's hopes as going down as an all around good President are most certainly down the toilet with more than one flush. His only hope now is to be known as a warrior President and he likes that idea. If he sticks to his guns, literally, he thinks he might get his warrior status. He's a fool.

I'm eager to see what will happen.

It's the hallmark of an atrocious chess player to continue sacrificing pawns to the cause in an effort to detract from the fact that he can't figure out how the other pieces move.

Anyhow, here's hoping the silly man listens to reason.

...but seeing as he's replacing two top generals (who also reportedly weren't too keen on a troop increase) I won't hold my breath.

The Irak war must cease and we need to let Iraqis take care of their own problems. If they can't, they will likely suffer an invasion from their persian neighbors (Iran).

Our troops must come back home, but not with the tail between their legs as some people propose.
