Some laptops are already equipped with wifi cards. Check to see if yours is. I have an Alienware laptop that has one, so I can go to any place where there is a 'hotspot' nearby (like cafes), turn on the switch and receive any neighborhood open access channel.
The thing with that is, those are unsecured lines. Make sure the computer is installed with the following beforehand:
1- antivirus software
2- spyware/adware destroying software, and most important
3- firewall (don't just rely on the one microsoft has automatically built in)
To surf the net without all three is the same as driving an uninsured automobile.

You can either go to a wireless hotspot you can find out where they are at http://www.btopenzone.com
The other alternative would be to connect to the internet via a mobile phone. Some mobile companies offer cards for the laptop that allow this.

Well this it is illegal to steal bandwidth from another person but all you need is a wireless card and the unsecured connection.....or a secured connection and the manufacturers troubleshooting manual with the reset pass codes.
