Er..I think you meant to say corporal punishment.Capital punishment(death) would be a tad harsh.I agree, the cane was a great deterrent(do n't listen to the liberals who say it was n't..they are the ones who have messed up our education system). Some hard cases, granted, got it more than once but the majority did n't.The important thing about the cane was that it was hardly ever used(in my school anyhow).. it was the threat that it COULD be used that kept people in their place.Kids nowadays know that you can't lay a finger on them and what's worse...they know it and will tell the teacher so.Parents are also to blame with the 'My little Johnny would'nt hurt a fly and don't you dare shout at him' mentality.Compare the educational standards in the 60s and in the post-cane era. It's obvious that standards have fallen.Although exam results have improved the exams are easier. If anyone disagrees....try sitting a 1971 O level paper and a 2006 GCSE paper...you will then see the difference.

Hell yes! I am a teacher, if you could only know "what goes on behind closed doors" you would reintroduce this.................
It cannot harm, as long as it is use with respect of the person's involved & the type of punishment, how else can we reinstall "RESPECT INTO THE YOUNG GENERATION???".
This is a widly debatted topic within my Teacher age group of...30+, & it is a great worry!

I saw a thing about that on the internet, a clip from tele. As a matter of fact boys at one particular school said it hurt like bloody blazes but indeed had been good for them.
They learned fast where the line was drawn, well, er where the lines would be laid down firmly.

No, i totally disagree with you. It was wrong to start with. I'd be outraged if a teacher used corporal punishment against my child. Smacking is illegal in this country and I'm glad... a small defenceless child should not have aggressiveness put upon them from an adult. Definitely not.

I think corporal is the word you are looking for and yes I think all schools should incorporate corporal punishment.

It depends on the severity of what they have done. If they have killed another student then just exclude them and send them to a juvenile detention centre, if they are caught listening to RnB during lessons, shoot them. Twice.
