Unless you have an in with a publisher, you're probably going to have to find an agent. They are invaluable when publishing a book. Basically, the way the publishing community has isolated itself, it is near impossible to publish a book without an agent. I'm not saying it cannot happen, but you will be making your life a heck of a lot easier if you find an agent.

Publish America will publish just about anything, and it doesn't cost you anything. www.publishamerica.com. I wouldn't recommend it for someone looking to be the next Hemingway, but it is good for someone who just wants their name in print.
