Many members of parliament carry out paid work in addition to their duty as an MP.
As this must reduce the time devoted to their MP's duties shouldn't the amount they earn as MPs be reduced by the same amount as they have earned from their other work.

It's very easy to snipe at MPs, but the fact remains that if we put too many restrictions on MPs it will have an effect on the quality of those in Parliament.
If you prevent them from having any outside interests, then the only people who will become MPs are "professional politicians" who have never done any "proper job". I think it's more important that we have MPs with real life experience.
Similarly, we could reduce their wages, but remember, the best people are often those who would command very high salaries outside politics. Again, low wages would only attract "low wage people".
If we don't like the performance of our MPs, we need to vote them out. However poor you think our politicains are now, you don't have to look far in this country to find far worse candidates!

All MPs should be paid the minimum wage.

Yes but they won't. They say it is necessary to have extra work in order to keep in touch with public opinion. But they always were lying b@satrds!

you could argue you should increase their pay but make it illegal to work outside Parliament !!
