Since so many people in the world community got all upset at the "barbarity" of the execution of Saddam Hussein by hanging, what should have been done instead???

He should have been judged by an international court for all the accusations against him,not only for the killing of Shiites...But an international court most probably would have taken a fair decision and wouldn't have convicted him to death...and there were some political interests in judging Saddam in Iraq...US probably thinks that by killing Saddam things are going to get better there...but the execution is likely to provoke an angry response from Saddam Hussein's supporters...and he will probably be seen as a martyr from now on... Saddam was judged and killed by the US,that court was a marionette of the US and I doubt that they took that decision all by themselves...
Saddam should have spent his life in jail.without all the media attention...this would have been a punishment.not death:this didn't help no one,on the contrary it made things worst...

I think what happened was the proper thing to do. Let Iraq take care of Saddam without any other outside influence as to what should happen. If they wanted to hang him, it's on their shoulders not anyone else. Iraq doesn't care what the world thinks about the brutality of hanging and will do what they please. Nothing wrong with that. Not only that, it shows the rest of the would be dictators what can happen. I think the thing should have been broadcasts openly throughout the region on television.

There was nothing wrong with executing him. It's the attitudes of the prison officials that IS the problem. Compared to them Sadam came across as dignified, and it's that image that is going to cause the trouble: A strong, dignified man facing death being taunted and belittled by his executioners. It's a powerful image for his supporters, and may even win more people over to their cause.

Absolutely nothing.

Why do you assume that just because some people got all upset the wrong thing was done? Some people are going to get upset no matter what one does. Just because some people get upset does not mean that things were not done right.
