My opinion, greatest qb ever is Joe Montana. Just all around great.

There have been many great QB's over the years, my vote is Joe Montana, while many people say he was nothing without Jerry Rice, I think he would've been great no matter what. While Rice may have helped contribute to Montana's success, the guy was just a good all around player, he didn't rush the throw, he made sure he hit his target, he was just perfect. Brett Favre is also very good, while not posting the best QB Rating of all time, he has a fantastic arm, he could hit a fly on a wall a mile away. He's got such a powerful throw.

Joe Montana in my opinion but that has been an arguement for years. Some say elway, marino, young, star, they were all great in there own way. It is hard to determine a definate answer for a question like this because most played in different eras. It is hard to say that if any of the greats played in another time if they would have been as good in that era. I do know one thing Danbert Mike Vick doesn't even come close to deserving to be in any conversation about great qb's he isn't even a top 5 qb in this era. He deserves to be in a conversation about overrated qb's.

this question can be looked at in two ways,, either by stats or by eras,, so many good QBs in many different eras,, so hard to compare how they might have fared, and all had their attributes,, lets list some of the best ,shall we !!!

bart starr
bobby layne
johnnie unitis
paul horning ,also was a running back
joe namath
fran tarkentin
bob griese
roger staubauch
archie manning
don strock
terry bradshaw
dan marino
dan fouts
joe montana
john elway
ken stabler
ron jawarski

steve young
troy aikman
jim mc mahon
warren moon , dont forget he played 10 yrs in cfl too and won 5 championships w/ edmonton
boomer essiason
kenny anderson
phill simms
payton manning will be in the elite soon
tom brady "all he does is win championships LOL"
brett farve,,

probably a ton more , but hey some were products of their own teams, some were just good at their genre and some just were plain out awesome,,

hard to pick just one ,, all were good at something, its just all about what part of the game they excell at , and what your preference is

All-time greatest quarterback: Fran Tarkenton or Brett Favre.

Most overrated quarterback ever: Joe Namath (look at his career stats: 173 TD passes, 220 INT, 65.5 career rating). The guy talks a little trash, leads his team to one Super Bowl win, and he's in the Hall of Fame with those numbers? I know stats aren't everything, but I think Joe was a below-average QB who wasn't as good as Dave Krieg.

Wow-that is a tough one there so I will name a few.
Joe Montana-he has Super Bowl championships and memorable plays. The Catch-Montana to Clark vs the Cowboys and no one can ever forgot the numerous times Montana hooked up with Jerry Rice.
Brett Favre is no slouch either. He is the Cal Ripken of the NFL and I am afraid he is done, but we will not forgot watching the Ironman of Green Bay.
Terry Bradshaw, Fran Tarkenton, Joe Namath, Dan Marino and Phil Simms would round out my list.

Brett Favre with out a doubt in my mind. Favre has done it all. he has won the big games, and his streak is remarkable. Imagine going through all those games with all those hits and injuries he has had. Favre always plays to win. He makes mistakes at times, but it is his passion to win. He wasn't surrounded with as much talent unlike some of the other qbs. Sterling Sharpe and Robert Brooks both were great, but had career shortening injuries. Favre has always been a team leader. I saw his clips at Southern Mississipi. He lead his team to beat Florida St. Favre is a great qb. he is the greatest qb ever period

Rock thats a pretty tough question. My choice is not a modern day qb. I would say George Blanda (ive seen him play before he became a excellent kicker for The Chicago Bears. I know he played well into his late 40s. He was a great one for a long long time.

There were so many great qbs......
1. Joe Montana,sanfran-he won superbowls, pinpoint accurate, leader, he tops the chart.
2.Johnny U, baltimore colts, He was a great player back in the old days, and he could still -put up numbers to make him great in today's game.
3.Otto Graham, cleveland-He played with a great team all-around, but he by far was the best player on that team.
4.Roger Staubach,dallas-light it up every game, thats staubach stand, are you in good hands?
5.Stevie Young,sanfan-He comes when Montana leaves, and he does the same frickin thing Montana did-win.
6.Troy Aikman, dallas-was a very good qb who just got inducted to HOF, he deserves this spot.
7.Jim Kelly,bufallo- led his team to 4 sbs, not his fault they didnt win one, they got cheated on one and the other the great kicker norway missed.
8.Dan the man Marino,miami-No superbowl wins, but his rookie year they went to it.before 2004(and Peyton Manning) he held records for td passes season, career, pass yards season, career, pass yards and pass tds in a game, first player to reach 30000 yards in a career, best qb rating, season, career, game.
9. Fran Tarkenton vikins'- he invented the alley-oop pass, he ran, threw, held a passing record back when, and they won games.
10.Brett Favre, green bay packers- He was great when he was young, assured a HOF spot when 5 years pass after hes retired, he can still put up ok numbers right now.
