I looked into going to the Art Institute in Seattle for Graphic Design a few years ago. Be warned...they accept any student who can pay for it! This makes it somewhat less credible after graduation, because not all graduates are "top-notch" students and employers aren't sure if they are getting the cream of the crop or a slacker who just happened to study art.
A friend of mine graduated from AIS in 2003 and still hasn't been able to get a job in her field of study...they'd rather hire students that went the community college here for graphic design.
If you can find a more reputable school, I'd highly recommend it.

Well, i had an interview for the art institute a few weeks ago. i wanted to take residential design. the man i was talking with was insanely helpful. he told me basically everythingi needed to know. i would totally go if i was you. seattle is an amazing city. it's about 2 hours away from the border.
oh, i turned down going to the school cuz my fiance is going over seas and i think that it would be too stressful for me....in case you were wondering. the next class start is in may i think. and the spring classes are usually the smallest. summer is about 3X as many students as the spring time. hope i helped.

I currently attend the art institute of Seattle. They pretty much accept anybody that has the money and wants in. They are a really good help with helping you get in and informing you on a lot of things. Its a weird environment to be in.. 4 hour classes and only one class a week can get to you. If you skip one class is can toss the whole thing. But if you are dedicated and can handle a lot of work then it will be a good school for you.

I havent gone to the AIS but I have a friend who had an interview over the internet and was really excited about going. As for the Canadian border, its about a two hour drive at the least, and not counting customs.
