Direct Tv DVR is the easy way to record live time. It will record 2 show at one time and you do not have to be at home. The cable dvr is a peice of crap.

DVD would be the best options it seems. Get a DVD recorder with a built in HDD. In this way, you can simply record the TV program you want, play it anytime you want, and simply delete it thereafter. Voila!!
