The coin you have is a British penny. On the tails side is Britannia, the symbol of Britain. The wheel like object is her shield, emblazoned with the Union Jack. She carries a trident, symbolic of ruling the waves. On the heads side is Queen Victoria, reigned 1837 to 1901. The abbreviated Latin inscription means ‘Victoria, by the grace of God, queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith, Empress of India’
