My guinea pig is very pregnant and she is waddling about with a very large belly. Does she need anything special if she is about to have the piglets? What do I need to do?

Make she that she is in a cage by herself...also make sure that her cage is nice and clean and has more than enough food and water...also make she that she is not in a room where a lot of people are at....that stresses her out more...then when she goes into labor make sure that you are there if you can be there and make sure she is not having any problems with the labor...when she is in labor she will be in it for a couple of hours depending on how good she is doing with the contractions....hope this helps and if you have anymore questions please feel free to email me...

Also make sure that when she delivers the babies that she has plenty of hay and grain...this will give her more protien and nurtients to give to her babies...she does not need a nest to have her babies on...

Ensure she has plenty of good nutrition and calcium rich food.Plenty of water. She needs plenty of hay to make a nest. Normally she will have about 4 or 5. After she will still needs lots of good food because she feeds them. She may bleed.Guinea pigs should have a rest from getting pregnant for at least 6 months.

Well most guinea pig cages already have the pine bedding and a house for them. I dont think you need anything else in there. My friends pig had babies more than once and she didnt do anything special for it, it just had them and life went on. :)

Make sure she has clean dry bedding, lots of water, and keep her warm. Also, give her some fresh veggies. She'll need to keep her strength up for when she has them. Keep it quiet in the room. They usually give birth early in the morning, or in the evening. Keep an eye on her, and make sure she and her babies are ok after the delivery. Good Luck!

Get some ice chips, pillows, some tennis balls to massage her back with. Practice breathing every chance you get (hoo hoo hee). Maybe take a piglet birth class?
