My wife had one. We went to the doctor. He suggested Benedryl and Halls. It's no big deal. Babies have a very safe environment in there. We sweat over everything and for no reason. He's 4-months old now and is bigger than a lot of 9 month olds.

I have had 2 very happy and healthy babies. My first was born naturally but my second was a c section as she was in breach. During both pregnancies I had a chest cough which I could not get rid of. I took different cough syrups that were safe, but to no avail. As soon as my girls were born......would you believe the coughing stopped. Just like that!!!! Very weird but both kids are fine. Might just have to put up with it I'm afraid.
Good luck tho.

yea i had that *cough splutter* ok make that i HAVE that. lol. it souldn't harm the baby as they're really good at draining u of all the goodness they need (lil blighters). if u live in GB go to boots and ask for their old fashioned medicin for coughs. its says its 4 tickly coughs, but it worked just as well on my chest cough. can't remember what its called, but its only about £1.75..bargin! just be sure to tell ur midwife ur taking it just in case, but it is safe to take during pregnancy. and keep an eye on ur cold n make sure it dnt change to a chest infection!
if it makes u feel batter, a few weeks b4 xmas, i was pucking left right n center n not sure which end to put over the loo if u get what i mean (nice). i felt crap, but baby was quite happy. i was on a drip for 8 days n the baby's perfectly fine now! so dnt worry, they're really tough in there! ur placentre will filter out any bad stuff before it gets to ur baby

God, yes. With every one of my pregnancies i had a really bad cough. In the middle of the night especially i'd wake up and cough continuously for over an hour.

When I was pregnant I had a really bad recurrent chest infection. It shouldn't affect your baby, mine was born happy and healthy. I wasn't allowed any cough medicine or cough drops, but I found the best thing that helped was sucking on Worther's Originals.

Babies react to the sound of coughing. It startles them. You can see them almost jump out of their skin when you cough. So it makes sense that they probably react before they're born too.
Check your humidity in your house or apartment. If it's below 20%, get a humidifier, to get it above 30%. A lot of coughs are caused by dry air.

I always get bad coughs I can't get rid of even though no infection, no harm to baby but unfortunately, you can't take much. You can take most paediatric cough medicines though, like a basic honey and lemon one.

I had a bad cough after I quit smoking. Coughing itself will not hurt the baby, even if it hurts you in the abdomen (usually farther into pregnancy).
