Here's what happens: I just installed Sims 2. It will open the program (the program appears in the tool bar and I hear the introductory music of the game) but the program won't run, (as it used to automatically) even when I click on the program in the tool bar).
Here are some possibilities:
1. My dad didn't remove the original graphics card and the Sims 2 was previously installed on my computer(I had to re-install it for some reason) because he wanted me to be able to use it if the new one breaks.
2. Could this simply be because an auto-run setting is disabled?
Additional Info:
1. Computer: Dell Dimension 2400, 1.1 Gig of RAM, 3.66 Ghz Pent 4.
2 Graphics card: GeForce 6200, 256 RAM
I am not technologically savvy, but I try. Please help me!

you don't even have to remove the old one, just disable it in Device Manager if you are running windows...

then check for any driver updates.

it extremely is the equipped into the mobo video chip set and it is rubbish. run DxDiag from the "run" instant. the "equipment producer" and "equipment type" inform you which ones mobo you have. from that maker's website, seem up the mobo specs and spot what slots it has [this style you do no longer would desire to renowned what the different varieties appear like interior the case]. a sparkling video card [photos card -- comparable factor] has to the two in high quality condition right into a vacant slot [comparable type slot and with no longer something in it] and use so little capability that your capability grant [playstation ] can nevertheless run the full works. [what's interior the slots comes from the laptop maker's website -- enter the type quantity in seek and seem for the specs] a sparkling playstation is somewhat inexpensive -- 30 usd for a 500w unit online if that seems to be the only hangup. you're able to would desire to instruct the builtin video off interior the BIOS once you do the set up -- i'm no longer familiar with that. and you will no longer choose any shared video RAM with the hot card -- that's replaced interior the BIOS.

Remove the old card. You are confusing the poor thing. Make sure you put it in the anti static bag the first one came with, and put it in a safe place. It woun't do you any good if parts fall off.

There should be a CD that came with that new card. You need to run it. It contains the drivers for the video card. Install those, and you should be good to go.

Download the latest drivers. Run the game's configuration utility if it has one. Most games now autodetect the capabilities and adjust settings accordingly.
