I was induced at 40+8 too. I didn't realize it but when I went in for my induction, I was already in labor, and 3 cm dilated, fully effaced, I had very little pain. My daughter remained high for entire labor, never engaging- ends up her head was too big. Anyhow, they went ahead and broke my water (there was meconium in it) and gave me pitocin, followed shortly after by my epidural ( I wasn't in pain, but the DR's were about to change shifts, and it would be HOURS before I could have it otherwise), I cannot remember which one (pitocin, or epidural) made me vomit, but then they gave me a twilight drug, and I cannot remember HOURS of my labor. Later, when I started an infection from my water being broken so long, my body completed flushed the epidural, and I spent a couple of hours crying bcs of the contraction pain- that's the part I do remember! Finally they rushed me to surgery for my c-section. (After 18 hrs, I had only dilated 6cm). My actual c-section delivery was very calm and peaceful.
A few hours later, I met the most beautiful little girl I had ever seen, and she took my breath away far more than any of the contractions could've. She has totally rocked my world. Please don't worry about the labor and delivery too much, as it totally pales in comparison to becoming a parent!
I am currently in my second pregnancy, a c-section is called for by my doctor, and I am experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions. Despite being nervous about another c-section, I am looking beyond that, and am super excited about meeting my new baby boy!
It kinda sounds like you may be having some labor contractions (tightness over entire belly, with pain)... Best wishes, and congratulations on the new baby-to-be!

I was induced at 40+8 by pitocin...I heard stories that having pitocin causes a more painful labor and I didn't believe them....however if I have the choice in the future, I will NOT use pitocin again! At first things were ok, but after they broke my water, I had contractions which were off the chart on the belly monitor thing and they were coming about ever 30-45 seconds and lasting a good minute each...barely enough time to breathe between them. I had planned to not have an epidural, but I just couldn't handle that!! I'm hoping that when #2 is conceived that I won't need to be induced (or if I am, I will choose a different method first, such as a sweep or the gel) because that was too much!! I certainly couldn't have handled 18 hours of that without an epidural! lol

I am now pregnant w/ my 2nd child, I was induced @ 40 weeks w/ my first. The labor was hard, very intense contrations for 4 hours. I did have an epidural and that helped w/ the pain. I pushed for 30 min. I had a baby girl and no complications. I think having a 4 1/2 hour labor is better than a 36 hour labor, and I hope I have to be induced again!!

I was induced at 38 weeks with my first child, the labor and delivery went smoothly, I guess it made me nervous to know "when it was coming" but also a bit of a relief because I didn't have to worry about my water breaking at work or while shopping. For me they inserted a pill in the vagina to soften the cervix, the only word on this is go to the bathroom before they put it in because you have to stay on your back for a long time after...then about 8 hours later they began pitossin and very slowly contractions started...dont worry, they start off very mild and increased only gradually, the only big change I felt was when they broke my water because there is suddenly much more pressure than before, but it is managable and you will do great...and even though I didnt believe it before I lived it, when you see your childs face it is all worth it and the pain stops..Best wishes for a safe and healthy delivery for your baby and you!

Well considering the fact the your baby is breeched it may be a lil frustrating and scary but itll all turn out for the best. I gave birth 1 1/2 months ago and it was much easier than I had imagined. i was in labor for 24 hours & 1 min.(haha, every min counts). They gave me meds to induce and they broke my water it was smooth sailing after that. I hope all goes well with you. GOOD LUCK! You will be very rewarded in the end.

At 40 wks., I went for my check up. When the Dr. checked for dialation, water gushed. But, no contractions. I went to the hosp., given the IV to induce, no pain meds. or epidural. Had her a few hours later. Delivery was fast and good. Good luck!

I was induced with my second bc of High Blood pressure and signs of pre-eclapsia. I was 39wks. The dr. kept me over night and used Cytotec (pill form) to start contractions, the were very intense, but thanks to Nubain.. they were tolerable. the next mornng I started pitocin and the dr. broke my water. I had my beautiful baby girl within 3 hrs of the dr. breaking my water.
everyone's induction is different,. It really all depends on how well you and your body tolerate labor and delivery. Best of Luck to you!!
