my printer always automatically print a test page whenever i turn it on. how do i stop this?

You need to do the alignment the first time the cartridges are installed. That "test page" you are talking about is actually the print alignment page.

You will need to do the following each time you take out and replace an ink cartridge. After that, this page should not need to be printed again until the next time you change a cartridge.

a) Place that page face-down on the scanner, top edge towards the left, corner towards you.
b) Close the scanner lid, press "Scan"
c) The printer will scan the picture and align itself automatically in about 30secs.

Change Printing Preferences.

You use the Control Panel To Do It, or on a document page click File, then Print, and change the preferences there.

I use XP so your computer might have a different arrangement.

TIP:
Better to go to Control Panel.

Open control panel>>printers and faxes>> printer>>properties>>printing defaults>>reset defaults>>apply, then off and on the printer, if still same check with an expert..
