everyone has a different way of being cheered up, but - cuddles! hugs make me soooo happy inside. pity people don't love me enough to hug me more.

Well first of all give him some black chocolate because i heard that it makes you feel better ! if it does not work let him have a shower or have a walk with him or her let him or her smell some fresh air and i am sure it would help her or him :)

just tell him to tell to you what's he's feeling so that he can release the bad feeling because that was one of the effective way to relieve her pain inside then after that give him a good advice regarding that matter and cheer him up.

Usually all they need is a good listener. And a funny joke or two helps too.

Depends how well you know them. Just a kind word will do. A compliment that they maybe weren't expecting.

distraction....get the subject changed...be available to let them vent for a time. If that doesn't work scratch your butt and smell your finger.
