i making 18$ an hour as a roofer and i'm 17

yes i am, i own a roofing company, so while you are making $18
dollars an hour i am making $90 a sq.
and don't think you are cool, $18 an hour when you are 17 is good
but $18 an hour when you are 30 and you have a bad back and bad knees isn't worth it
go back to school and do something better with your life

That's pretty good money for a 17 year old. I was earning $20 an hour when I retired 5 years ago but it took me 30 years to get that much.

I am an inmigrant, 30 years old and I make more than you, I don't have any risks of injury and I get plenty of benefits.. you get all that if you go to school, study and have a career.
I wouldn't be so excited if I was you, risking my bones everyday at work.
Be smart, do something else, and just in case, save some money for a nice looking wheelchair!

No i am not. I am a firefighter and paramedic. I risk my life and risk serious personal injury to save and help people I have never met. I pick up the drunk guy off the floor, I help out the man having a heart attack and sometimes help to restart it so he can come home to his family. I help the drug addicted person recover from their overdose only to pick them up again in a few nights from now. I crawl into wrecked cars to try and keep trapped people alive, and sometimes even swim under water to rescue them, and deliver a baby here and there. But no, I am not getting paid nearly as much as you. But i am still getting more out of each hour i go to work.

yeah but im not going to say how much because that is irrelevant. i agree with andy m. chances are you can get seriously hurt. i know someone that fell off a roof and became paralyzed. its great if you have a side job doing this, but honestly, you should get a college degree and make serious money.

$18.00 is pretty good for a 17 year old.
Do your apprentice ship and start your own business.
There is no future in any trade unless you work for yourself.
Working for a boss in any trade is nothing more than slavery.
