Increase fluids: Give 2-4 oz of water or diluted fruit juices (such as apple or prune) 1-2 times each day, or try switching to a soy formula.
Increase fiber: If your infant is over four months old and has constipation, you may also try feeding foods with a lot of fiber, such as cereals, strained prunes, apricots, or spinach.
Keep in mind, that although rare, the first symptoms of botulism in infants is usually constipation. If your infant has severe or difficult to treat constipation, especially if he also has other symptoms, like weakness and poor muscle tone, ask your doctor about botulism.

I have a 1 1/2 month old and he seems to get constipated alot. The doctor instructed me to give him baby pear juice by the baby food (this kind does not have to be diluted) and give him an ounce 1-2 times a day. Also, alot of times babies get constipated if you switched from breastfeeding to formula and it will go away after about a week of the switch. Or if he/she is formula fed the best way to insure they dont get constipated is to measure the water in the bottle first then add the scoops of formula and never do half scoops, even if they're drinking 5 oz make 6 oz so that its exactly 3 scoops and just dispose of the extra oz after feeding.

When my baby boy gets constipated, I give him some fruit juice: either apple or apple-prune. If it is severe (it sounds like he needs immediate relief), go get some Babylax from the drugstore. It is a glycerine suppository that softens up the poop so he'll pass it within an hour.

If it is chronic constipation, call your doctor. U can try apple, pear or prune juices, increase fluid intake (not more milk, water, too much milk can be constipating). A glycerin suppository (infant size) works well. NO KARYO SYRUP! Because it is sugary, you run the risk of botulism if the syrup has been opened for a long period of time

First of all, make sure your baby is getting plenty of fluids. Increase the amount of fruit your child is getting. Decrease the amount of rice, bananas and cooked carrots as these can cause constipation. You can also add a teaspoon of bran to your child's cereal. You can give the child 1 ounce of prune juice mixed with 1 ounce of water twice daily cutting back as the symptoms improve.
Additionally, encourage your baby to get more exercise and massage the baby's belly. The link below shows how to massage the baby's belly.
Also, you can apply aloe vera lotion to his anus since there may have been a tear.
I hope this helps!

Give him some steam pears and prunes and you can also give him some pear juice that's what i give my little girl. But since it's really bad now go to the chemist and get some baby suppositories. It's not to nice putting it in but when there this bad it helps them alot and it should only take around 1/2 hour to work and get the really hard stuff out.

prune juice. Dilute with a little water or use the Gerber prune juice. You may use glycerin suppositories as well for lubrication.

Buy some Kayro Syurp (Clear) and put a Tablespoon in his bottle with just water added..
That will make him go.
This advise was given to me by my pediatrician..which is a preemie specalist.
Altho this advise was given to me 13 yrs ago when my son was a baby, I'm sure it will work now.

Corn syrup diluted with water. Not too much though or it will cause him to have diarrhea. Start with 1 ounce syrup to 2 ounces of water.
