OK first off I'm not in a panic because they lost 2 games. Second off this is not your grampas NHL where coaches rode a line till the bitter end. i am simply saying wouldn't it be cool to see Max on a line with breire maybe hecht on a line with vanek? there is no law that says you can't tinker a little and then throw them back together again...

I think on occasion that Ruff does just that. It was a tactic that the great Scotty Bowman used throughout his career and obviously it paid dividends during his Cup winning years. But realistically the Sabres are one of the elite teams right now, just hitting a rough stretch that every team encounters during the season. Mixing it up in the name of panic isnt the right thing to do...they will be Cup contenders and there is no reason to screw up a good team just to please a few restless fans.

why would you want that. I'm not a Sabres fan but that's what kills a team. when a player goes down and out for 3 months and the lines will have to change and that can hurt the chemistry of the team and that's not something you'd want. look at the Ducks by losing Pronger and now Guigere they haven't been as dominate. the Sabres are having a great year but you never want to see a player go down cause that can really hurt a team pretty bad. and just because you lose a few games doesn't mean much it makes the team better and stronger for the next game and it makes a true champ out of a team.

I never have liked the idea of changing up the players on lines just because a team lacks scoring for a few games. Chemistry has alot to do with how well lines play. I can remember when teams would never change linemates(unless of injury). Remember in the 70's......it was always, Perrault, Martin and Robert. It was always, Luce, Ramsey, and Gare. Wasn't it always Trottier, Bossy, and Gillies for the Islanders?
Just look around.....when Atlanta splits up Kovolchuk, Hossa, and Kozlov....nobody scores!

I'm not sure what the lines were last night, but I completely disagree with the current consensus of keeping things together just to maintain the status quo.

These guys are professionals and Ruff is never afraid to mix it up. Heck, just a few weeks ago he switched Gaustad and Novotny and it proved to be just what Drury and Kotalik (especially) needed.

I'm not saying it's panic time. All I'm saying is that with teams with players of this caliber and with a coach with this kind of experience and confidence in his skaters, mixing it up need not be a panic.

Nonetheless, I'm going to go on record and say that the team is fatigued having played six times in 11 days. Unfortunately, relief is a couple days away and they play the hated Leafs on Saturday.

The lineups are preety solid for now. Switching defensive pairs could throw off the timing and chemistry of the lines. Keep it as it is.
