I found out a while ago after watching Smallville and The OC that the sun rises real early (5-6 AM?) in the States. In Malaysia, the sun starts to rise at 7 AM, and it only gets real sunshin-y at 8+ AM. Then it sets at around 7 PM, and it only gets real dark at around 8 PM. I'm talking about Kuala Lumpur, BTW, dunno about East Malaysia. So... When does rise and set where you live?
Just an observation: If what I found out is correct, then a lot of Americans are still sleeping after the sun is up (5-6 AM), while a lot of Malaysians are already up at 5-6 AM, when it is still dark (to prepare to pray, for Muslims, and to go to work and school, generally), and by the time schoolchildren they get to school, the sun is only beginning to rise (7 AM).

Sunrise and sunsets do not vary as you go east and west, rather north and south. The further north and south you go from the equator, the greater the extremes of daylight and night.
I've been in Alaska in the summer and sunset came at 11pm and came back up again at 2am. That was wild. In January in Anchorage, sunrise is not until 10am and sunset starts around 4pm.
If you get above the Arctic Circle, you'll experience perpetual day in the summer (on and around June 21) and perpetual night (on and around December 21). The opposite goes for below the Antarctic Circle, i.e. winter solstice is in June and summer solstice is in December.

here in philippines, the sun rise depends on the weather, but mostly it do rise 5:30 a.m and sunset 6:00 p.m

hi there well im in scotland in the borders and its 8am here and it is still dark we get light at about 8.15-8.30am and the sun is down by 4pm and dark at the moment by 4.15.gmt hope that helps ......take care xx
