In the last episode of 2006, she was leaving Daniel and going to be on the other magazine with Sofia and Daniel was to be with Sofia since he was in love with her...But in this new episode Sofia is nowhere to be found and Betty hasn't left and mentions "first check". What the heck happened? Was there some skip or...?

THE EPISODE THAT AIRED THURSDAY "SWAG" AIRED OUT OF ORDER. IT SUPOSE TO HAVE BEEN THE 4TH FILM TO AIR. THEY WENT AHEAD AND AIRED IT OUT OF ORDER THURSDAY. {It was scheduled to air on October 19, 2006, but it was replaced by Fey's Sleigh Ride. It has been billed as "The Lost Episode" and will fill in loose ends via new scenes. }THEY HAVE ABOUT 3 MORE NEW FILMS (IN THE CORRECT ORDER) TO SHOW.

No skip. It was a flash-back episode to the payday both she and Daniel got their first paychecks in their new positions. She told to her seamstress friend whose name I forget, in the last hour of her position at Mode because she noticed Betty was carrying a knock-off instead of the genuine Gucci bag she'd given her. It was designed to show how devious Wilhelmina & Marc are, and how bright & golden-hearted Betty is. We've all started to see Wilhemina & Marc as much better than they really are.
Remember, lots of people will have trouble just jumping back in without some background, anyway.
Buckle your seatbelts, the rest of the season is gonna be a bumpy ride.

I was confused at first, but it was just a dumb flashback episode to kill some time.
She was telling the story to the costume girl (I forget her name), and was about what had happened before. In the end, the lady comments on how much she'll miss her when she leaves. Also, in the beginning of the episode Betty comments on how she's only just going a few floors down. So it's a new one, just a lame time-killer.

No good answer here, but a great question from you. Ugh... it sucks, I missed Thursday's episode; I had to work. Blegh. I watched all the old episodes before the new season started. Now, I'm hooked.
p.s. Daniel's pretty hott. (I'd noticed him in The L Word, but I hadn't noticed how hot he was. I guess I was just checkin' out the chicks).
