This day of age women are as they should be regarded equal to men. Something I have noticed tough, there are two roles in society. Provider and caretaker. I havent met anyone who is good at both. I was made to be a provider and noticed I am around other providers where as my brother seems to be surrounded by caretakers and is also a caretaker. Are my assumptions right? Does this make sense?

you are right - we are equal but not in physical terms. we are equal in strenghts, thoughts, performance etc. we complement each other. we're not suppose to compete with each other. the problem is it has been lopsided. man has been dominating and is domineering, therefore women lose out. i heard of one spiritual teaching that says - if you $$ to educate only one child - which one. u send the girl to school for she will be the mother of the child and she will be the primary care-giver. so u see the VIP role women play. yet society has yet to move in this direction. look at all the female foetuses aborted in india, china, [in old days - buried alive in middle-east]. where will the women come from when your son is due to marry? this shows the stupidity of man! you expand this analogy to humanity. why all these problems facing us. because it has been a male-dominated world. women's voice have not been heard. they are still exploited both in the west and the muslim countries. equality doesnt mean exposing yourself in a magazine or covering your face with a scarf. all these further suppress the strength of women that we should start to acknowledge. humanity is like a bird. for it to fly both wings must be strong. one wing is the male, and then it can soar really high. if women becomes leaders, perhaps war will reduce. some women who held power are not exercising feminine roles. eg margaret thatcher, indira gandhi, bandaranaike etc. they are women in men's clothings!! so humanity will continue to suffer! when will that day come. both gender must make that effort! long road ahead, man!!

seems right. I believe women are equal to men in every way, but their roles are different. That is not bad or derogatory, its a simple fact. We are equal in worth, absolutely. We are not the same though. A woman is not a man, a man is not a woman. There are some exceptions of course where a man is better at what is traditionally a woman's job and vice versa, but I do believe there are different roles in society. This said, there is nothing wrong with working women or stay at home dads. There are just things thing different sexes are naturally better at. Its an evolutionary fact.

Obviously no idividual is completely equal to any other individual in any ability. Some are smarter, some stronger, some faster, whatever. The eqaulity of all human beings is in terms of human rights and dignity. This equality does not ignore differences in ability. On the contrary, it accentuates it through respect and recognition of abilities by fair competition. In general there are also ability traits on a bigger scale. People from a certain ethnic ancestry generally make better athletes, engineers, cooks etc. this may also apply (IN GENERAL) to gender. In general, men may have greater physical power while women may have greater emotional power. Whatever it is, the general differences between men and women are more than bodily appearance. The ancient influence can and should not be underestimated. The feminine soul is inseparably linked to motherhood while that of the male is inseparably linked to providing in the physical needs of his family and to protecting them. Not only in the human species. We can learn a lot of our basic humanity by looking at nature. These archaiec traits are deeply embedded. It makes us different but not unequal in terms of worth and dignity. This we should respect.

There are a great deal of men and women who can do both. Single parents do it all the time with ease. It is a learned trait though that is learned from experience and not something that can be taught.
