Lack of knowledge. We don't know our rights, we don't know how our government works, we don't know our history. We have no idea of our collective power, our collective strength. And why? Because we're constantly being told we don't have any. That's why so many people just sit there and ask, "I'm just one person--what can I do?"
P.S. Evil as it may sound to the asker of this question, it IS possible for a government to be an "enemy" to the country it's supposed to serve. Perhaps your unwillingness to hear this truth is a real example of limited thinking.

I think that we are our own worst enemy. Our arrogance and bigotry keep our view of the world very narrow. We never see the whole picture.
There is a book called The Ugly American, and it shows us that we walk around as if we own the world, and the world should follow and become like us. We step into countries, trying to make them more like us.
Countries are like individual people, you can't make a person into your own image, you respect their originality and help them to build on their strengths.
I am not pointing at the government as our worst enemy, because we elect the government...if the government fails, it is because we chose a government that would fail.

We are own worst enemy. The apathy in this country about what is happening in the world. Americans are fat and happy and are more concerned with their cable bill then the Billions of dollars that are being borrowed to run Bush's war.

God is the greatest enemy of our nation. As this nation moves futher and futher away from GOD and his ways. The government places itself into the hands of a angry God. Who is able to raise and is able to cause the fall of a nation. This nation has the ability to reject God or to welcome him. This nation has the ability to recieve cursings or blessing from God.
In the course of our nation we can look over history and see that at one time this nation without a dought placed a great deal of wisdom in the running of the nation and in the treatment of the people abroad as well as at home. This was because of the moral foundations of this nation. Yeat in the last 50 years you can't claim that this nation has rejected God. As that is the case you now have the nation you live in. A nation of thiefs in ever office in the land. A nation of woman that prostrate them selfs before men and give their bodies over to ungodly uses and men who claim that they have moral when they sleep with one another. A Government that has not morals. A people who are fat in sin and never are happy with what they have. It is called coveness. Teenagers that have been cursed by the supreme court. Teachers that are pedofiles. Lawmen that are themselfs lawless people. You even have people stating follow me i am a liberal. Liberal trash is still liberal trash. The fact is God is nto mocked nations reap what they sow. And this nation is in that path right now.
