6 weeks or until the woman feels comfortable in having sex. I had a c-section and i didn't have sex until 2 months after i had my c-section cause after going through all that pain SEX was the LAST thing on my mind.

Is this your first child? After you have a c-section it is advised that you wait six weeks before engaging in sex. The exact same amount of time as if you had a hysterectomy. You've just had major surgery, take it slowly at first. Don't rush into it. Remember your entire life has changed and don't be pressured into it. If you don't feel 100% I recommend holding off for a few more days or weeks. Take care of yourself be healthy and happy.

Interesting question. First, of course, ask the doctor who performs the operation. S/he may have some particular reason for whatever time limit suggested. But then consider what a recent president said about sex...something about how do you define it and what exactly is it? Be imaginative. If your spouse is creative and playful, the answer is as soon as you two are sufficiently comfortable with your surroundings...the hallway, the closet, the ward, the operating room...whenever and wherever. But it depends on what you want to call "sex" and how creative you can be.

6 weeks. It's because all the parts just aren't back in place yet! She needs to have a checkup to make sure that everything is okay with her uterus and that everything is getting back to normal.
