The Nintendo Wii access the internet through a wireless internet connection that is built inside the unit called Wi-Fi. That means you have to have a computer network setup inside your house using broadband connection either DSL or Cable Internet.

From there you can access the internet from the Wii using the controller to download a internet browser called Opera into the system and shop for games and downloads. Dial up internet will not work for the Wii since it will be to slow and won't work wirelessly.

At this very monet in time you need: Broadband connection. A wirless network. This is because 1. there is a heck of alot of info being sent each way, so oyu really need a broadband connection and 2. Currently thw Wii will only connect through a wireless network, but there may be an adapter released later on the plugs into the usb ports.
