While the credits of a movie are often boring (with the exception of the Zucker/Abrams/Zucker films, which have odd tidbits hidden away in them, or things like Gremlins 2, where Daffy Duck pops up during the credits to make comments), there are often scenes saved until after the credits that make sitting through the credits worth watching. For instance, Lethal Weapon 3, Young Sherlock Holmes, and Ferris Beuller's Day Off all have stuff at the end of varying importance to the film, and those are just the first three I thought of off the top of my head. It's more common in comedies or action films, but YSH in particular has a scene that is essential to the plot following the credits.
Then there are credits where fun things, such as bloopers, are shown while the credits roll. This has been going on for years now, but in recent years the place this showed up the most was Jackie Chan films.
So, to answer your question, while seeing who the "key grip" is may not be that interesting, there can be credits that are entertaining, or worth sitting through to get to additional footage.
