I'm trying to upload an avatar on this website and it has to be 50 x 50. Well I resized it but it has too much kb. I don't know how to make it less without making the picture smaller and I can't do that.
>___<;; I'm not good at this stuff.

Here are the free ones that might come handy in compressing and sizing ur pics(assuming u are using Windows operating system).

As i understand, u already got correct pixels for ur image (50x50), ie, u have already sized ur pics. For compressing it, U can download "Free change image utility for windows" from here :

http://www.trans4mind.com/personal_development/convertImage/index.html

The image utility will compress ur pic, in other terms less kb :)

Some other image resizing/compressing free software:

1. For any image compression or sizing, u can use irfanview(a freeware) from http://www.irfanview.com/.
Irfanview steps to reduce or resize image - Menu->Image->Resize/Resample->Set new size.
In ur case, set new size as 50 height, 50 width (in pixels)

Hope it helps and best wishes :)

pictures are like music wave files are big and mp3s are small
You can change the format of a picture like tiff, mpg, jpg
jpg is the best if you have a program like photo shop you can also reduce the quality of the pixels to make it smaller.

if the picture is in height-definition then the pic is very heavy
try looking for a software like photoshop where you can find and
option for trim the resolution to a lower scale or definition.

You can also use Irfan View to reduce it, its free.and no ads or junk.
Ubuntu has some that come built into it. Kubuntu does also. Thats a Linux Distro. And it is the easiest Linux I have ever used, yet.

scale the size down, save it as a different format (such as .gif), or if you have photoshop, save it as a copy and set the quality down to 5, it still looks good at a fraction of the size

hope that helps!

you need to decrease the number of colors or you can make it grayscale. If it's jpg you can reduce the quality when you save as jpg again from an editor such as paint

Use a jpg or gif format, doing this will reduce your file size a great deal.
