Ever since I was a kid I knew that death would come. I am not afraid of death. I see no reason to be afraid of something that will eventually come. Am I alone in my thinking or are there others out there?

I've been wondering if anyone felt like I did. I had a heart cath when I was 2 and the doctor messed up somehow and killed me. I was considered dead for 5 minutes. I feel there is no reason for me to fear death. Why should I? I've already been there. Like the saying goes "Been there, Done that".

why fear death? there is nothing to fear. its a natural process of life. did the baby fear coming out of the womb? no bravely and screaming away, it came out and face the world. so likewise we should embrace death for indeed maybe death can be regarded as a messenger of joy- taking us away from this world to a better world somewhere out there. if you have lived a good life, both materially and spiritually, there is nothing to be concern. even if you dont believe in god, nothing can happen. if you believe, then the world of god awaits you and i think there is no hell! its a matter of being nearer to god or further! all the story and fear that religion has inflicted on us is just goeey stuff. like you i too welcome death.

The moment you were conceived you were destined to die. Death embraces everything the moment life started to spur in their cells. Even before we gain consciousness on what life and death are, death looms in the background. And it is all just a matter of time death will happen to each and everyone of us.
And although it is highly inevitable... some people still fear it. Why? there can be a lot of reasons why... One is perhaps they feel like they still have to experience more of life. Others claim that they are not yet ready due to their obligations to their families, friends and even to the community.
I on the other hand look at death as a new experience. Something to lookforward to. Not in a suicidal way but more in the lines of venturing on to a new journey. The living realm has a lot to offer... it makes me wonder what is there on the other side. It has once been said that life is a journey... then i say death might be a cool joint coz we spend our lives getting there! At the moment enjoy the journey!

I guess I am in the same position...I don;t dwell on it, I think of it when I see funerals and such, but not afraid of it. I think of it as a long sleep, and I like sleep.

I have some comfort by my religious beliefs, in which I believe that death is not the end of life. I don;t think I will be in permanent pain, nor will I be stressed after death,. I am NOT suicidal, but not paranoid of death either. I like my life and enjoy it too.

After Viet Nam
each day is an added blessing
When you've had your tongue down death's throat
you feel familiar enough with it that it doesn't scare you much any more !!!

I am not afraid of the death but I am afraid how I will die. I want to die comfortably and with respect. I am ready to die now for my girlfriend, Deepa. But I want to die on her lap. -Sanish (urgent_msg1@yahoo.com)
