In the show Yes Barney Fife was Andy Taylor's cousin. In real life NO
There were three episodes that mentioned Andy and Barney being cousins: The New Housekeeper, The Manhunt, Runaway Kid. Also, in "Andy and the New Mayor", Barney mentions, growing up and attending school with Andy, (they got 1st and 2nd place in a penmanship contest) as well as being Andy's best man, at his first wedding, and being the Godfather to Opie.

Sort of. In the first episode, Barney refers to Andy once as "Cousin Andy" when saying that he hopes people think he got his job on his merits, not from favoritism. In all other episodes, whenever Barney's family is mentioned, there is no mention of Andy and Barney being related. It was a one-time joke.

Correct, Barney does in fact refer to Giffith as cousin Andy.
