The US government seems to sway extremely right or left.?

Does anyone think these extremes could ever spark another civil war?

Yes, as soon as many Americans are effected by our governments failure to protect our families from failed policies. illegal immigration could be a reason as soon as the next terrorist attack on U.S. Soil. Or if the government would try to disarm the gun owners.

I feel our country is too stable for a civil war, but I think in order to get more votes our country's leaders seem to try to appease the Far Right/Left fringes. The Democrats didn't win seats because they were brilliant tacticians... they won because the Dems were smart enough to return to the center and the Republicans are trying to appease the FAR right wing nutjobs.

I think it's more the people who are extremely right or left. Sometimes it sounds inviting, living among people who are like minded, but I don't think it will ever happen.

It depends on which party has more people in congress and the president's seat. And I can't see us having another civil war....call me naive but I think in this time of 2007, our government would be able to put down the uprising fairly quickly.....was alittle bit different back in 1860.
