So I went and was careful. I didn't feel over heated. I stayed in for 1 hour. The water was 95-99 degees (depending on how shallow the area) but the temperature outside is cold and snowy(canadian winter), so I didn't feel hot or overheated at all...

But now I am worried, was the doctor wrong? Should I have not done it? what is the worst thing that could happen? I am 16 weeks along

I think as long as the temperature was not hotter than 99 degrees you should be fine because pregnant women take baths at that temperature all the time. I am sure you will be fine.

As far as my understanding is pregnant women are asked to avoid hot water to prevent miscarriage or to prevent onset of early labour. You dont have either of the problems .Hot water tends to induce /cause the above two.

The only reason any woman pregnant or not should avoid tub is coz the bacteria in the water may enter the vagina and cause Urinary Tract Infection .

That it is why it is recommended to take showers instead of "tubs".

the very best way to handle hot water when you are pregnant is to take a thermometer with you. take your temperature before you get in. take it every ten to fifteen minutes while you are in the water. when your temperature has risen one whole degree, it is time to get out. it doesn't matter how hot the water is, or how long you stay in. the real problem is will you overheat your baby. the best way to know that is to monitor your temperature and when it goes up one degree, get out. that way, you can be sure that you will not harm your baby.

This does not sound like an issue for you to worry about. If you had a problem you would have known immediately. Anyway, it is too late to worry now about anything, so just do what you are supposed to be doing, and everything should be fine.

I can't believe the doc said it was okay - I mean he was right about you not going into very hot water, but you shouldn't have been in that cesspool of bacterial water.....

if anything happens, the hottub will have nothing to do with it. you're worrying too much. keep in mind your body temperature is 98.6 degrees, its not like you're going to cook your baby inside of you...
