Can horrible Morning Sickness be a sign of twins? My cousin was told that she would never be able to have children. She is now aprox 3 months pregnant and has horrible "morning" sickness. Everytime she eats and constantly through the day she is sick. Could this at all be a sign of more then one baby? Or would they have detected it already? She had her last check up about two weeks ago, and heard the heart. So they would have already detected twins right?

haha ok thanks for all the fast answers. Considering theres a small chance she'll be able to have children after this one (well who knows the doctors where wrong the first time) I'm trying to find everything possible that in the slightest way could be a sign of twins lol.

Horrible morning sickness is a sign of first trimester pregnancy, NOT MULTIPLE FETUS silly goose. If it was I would of had quintuplettes (5 babies) my first pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different. Real "natural" black licorice and red raspberry tea help ease nausia, as do saltine crackers.

How sick you are when you are pregnant does not mean that you are having twins. Some people who have twins are never sick a day of the pregnancy term. Then again, some people who are having only one child are sick as dogs the whole pregnancy. More than likely if she were carrying twins at 12 weeks, another heartbeat would be heard.

well, severe morning sickness can be a sign of twins, but....
at three months, they should be able to tell by ultrasound. if she had one, then they should know. if not, going by listening to the heartbeat is not a very reliable way of knowing if you have twins.
as for the nausea, severe morning sickness does also happen fairly frequently to mom's with a single pregnancy, too. it has to do with how much progesterone your body produces, and how your body responds to it. so some people with twins have no morning sickness, and some with one baby are very sick.
on a personal note, morning sickness is miserable, and your cousin has my sympathy. but there is a glimmer of hope. at three months (12-13 weeks, i assume) she should be getting towards the end of it. many women stop being sick at this time,
(i stopped barfing at fifteen weeks) and most have at least a big decrease in their symptoms at that time. the production of progesterone slows at the end of the third trimester. good luck.

I've never heard of it being a sign for twins. I know alot off people that had horrible morning sickness and they only had one child. It's a joke that they call it morning sickness because I found out that it is just "all day" sickness.

God sometimes has quirky surprises. I have a friend who had 3 sonograms because she had gotten so big they thought there might be a problem, because when they measured the baby it was not any larger than normal. The first sono, showed a girl, second a boy, third was positioned so they couldn't tell. Long story short the babies were positioned in line of each other and their heart beats were in sync. She didn't know it was twins till the first one was born.
Something that work for me was to nibble on Ginger snaps. something in the ginger settles your stomach.

I haven't read it but I've heard people say that everything he's said has been said before and said better by others. If that's the case, then it would seem all he has is a catchy title. When things eventually get into the public domain, the best parts of all the books should be combined. Most of the time it seems that the explanations are more verbose than needed. People who accept it don't need that much and the extra verbiage isn't convincing others.

it could be but, might not be. I am 7 months along and i had awful morning sickness all day, couldn't eat anything, all i could do was sleep, even that was a chore sometimes. as far as the heart beat, thats not forsure either, the quit after they find one, they may find a second later, but the best way to know is to find out at the ultrasound

no--that is just an old wives tale.
I had horrible all day and night morning sickness for my first 5 months--it went away in my 6th month & came back for my 7th--Im due in 17 days and I still get it in the morning and at night.
if she was carrying twins--they would have known it by now --either from the first u/s or from hearing more than one heartbeat at her check ups.

It has nothing to do with having twins or not..Some women have morning sickness others don`t .Some have it mildly and some have it worse..
I agree with Kim..They should change it to all day sickness!!
